| The third of July |

Waiting for the email to tell us we can go home early...
Had lunch outside, on a hot metal table in the sun. In the distance the steeple of St. Paul's chapel, where Washington went to meditate after his first inauguration, with 220 Broadway, where my father worked for a couple of years before he retired, behind, and to the right, 195 Broadway, where he worked many years before that. Three buildings I would not have seen from the same table the first week of last September. I could have lunched in the airconditioned comfort of our cafeteria, looking down into the pit from my usual table by the window, but somehow didn't feel like it.
Speaking of Washington, tomorrow is the fourth of July, and there are some dismal and just reflections on the Rational Review site. Rational, not National. Take a look and tell me what you think. |

I didn't know you were into Creepy Icons. Spooky.

Computer icons, that is. (I once told my daughter I was going to an exhibition of Russian Icons, and she told me to get a life, I was spending too much time with computers as it was.) I will look around the group and see if there is anything I want to download, then quit. Unless it is really, really interesting. (The one picture I can find of myself is really unflattering.)

I'm sorry you found Rational Review's comments dismal. I'm glad that you found them just. I'm also glad that you presumably found them worthwhile (since you mentioned them).
Hey, two outta three aint' bad!

The situation of American liberty you describe is surely deeply, deeply distressing; if that is not dismal, not just for our countrymen, but humanity, I don't know what dismal means. Warm congratulations on a fine job!!!
Cheers
